O’Charley’s Restaurants

Holland & Wyoming, Michigan

Civil-Engineering

Story

As the new franchisee for the O’Charley’s restaurant chain for the state of Michigan, Meritage Hospitality Group looked to Driesenga & Associates, Inc. to provide land development expertise. The evaluation, design, and permitting of two sites were completed in Holland Township and the City of Wyoming. Driesenga & Associates, Inc. provided a variety of services through the feasibility and design phase of each of these projects including topographic and boundary survey, geotechnical engineering and soils investigation, percolation testing, conceptual layouts and traffic circulation, site plan approval through the municipality, storm water and site grading design, county drain connection permitting, MDEQ wetland permitting, and road commission drive entrance permitting. Some challenges to overcome at the Holland Township site include the design of a staged storm water system, which included an open water and subsurface detention system, and the MDEQ wetland permitting to disturb an existing detention system turned wetland.
