Driesenga & Associates performed civil engineering, construction staking, and special inspection/testing services throughout construction of the facility to ensure the facility was constructed in accordance with project specifications and the 2003 Michigan Building Code. Our Civil Engineering Department was included on the design team, and provided eingineering services relating to grading, utility extension, drainage, and coordiantion with municipal personnel. Construction Staking services included layout of the building, site utilities, and parking areas in order for the contractor to properly construct the facility. Inspection services consisted of on-site/laboratory testing of soils, concrete, masonry, structural steel, and asphalt. Hope College’s Martha Miller Center is home to the departments of communication and of modern and classical languages, as well as the offices of international education and multicultural life. The 49,000 square foot building is named in honor of the late Martha Miller, who died in 1999 at age 96, in recognition of a $3 million leadership gift her family made on behalf of the project through her estate.
