Albion College’s Nancy G. Held Equestrian Center is a full-service, state-of-the-art riding facility on 340 acres of the college’s campus. This project included the design of a new 30-horse (expandable to 90-horse) equestrian facility. The facility includes main barn with indoor show ring, viewing area and classroom; hay and equipment storage barn; covering loading dock for manure spreader; outdoor show rings; outdoor paddocks; parking and drive access for cars, trucks and recreational vehicles; private well and septic system; and outdoor pastures. Driesenga provided the site layout, site grading with considerations for future development, design of private well and septic, storm water design, and permitting through County Road Commission, County Health Department and Michigan Department of Agriculture. In addition, geotechnical engineering, construction materials testing and construction staking survey were provided.
