Holland, Michigan

Architectural

Story

Design Plus provided complete architectural design and documentation, interior design, site/landscape design, construction administration, as well as structural, civil, and food service consultant coordination services for the expansion of the Geneva Shores church camp in Holland, Michigan. The project includes two multi-functional buildings gathered around a large patio, a 13,761 SF dining/meeting hall with seating for 200+, a kitchen/servery, toilet rooms, an arts and crafts building divided into two sections for arts and crafts as well as a game room for table games. There are four pods of four cabins each, ranging in size from 888 SF to 1,153 SF. Each cabin contains a bunkroom for sleeping, a bathroom, and living area. The larger cabins contain a large gathering/living room, and each pod was designed to create “intra-communities.” The site includes walking paths joining each of the buildings, as well as a 3-acre man-made pond with toys and an island with zip line attached to a hill for summer, sledding in the winter. Other site components include parking lot additions, an irrigated multi-purpose field, picnic tables and grill nodes, waterfront boardwalk expansion, nature trails, a small play area, and landscaping. The project was completed in December 1998 with a total construction cost of $3,038,825.
