Kingsbury Place Apartments

Walker, Michigan

Waterproofing

Story

Kingsbury Place is a residential apartment complex for mentally and physically challenged individuals of limited income. Key objectives for this project included reducing the operational expenses to lower utility bills, manage a limited construction budget and create a better working and living environment for employees and residents.

One of the project’s unique cost saving solutions is the site irrigation system. A cistern was installed to collect the parking area rainwater to be used for on site irrigation.

The project consists of forty-four units in ten buildings, ranging from duplexes to seven-unit buildings. An office and community space are also located on site.

The Kingsbury Project is far from ordinary. It is the first housing community project in Michigan to achieve the "Green Communities" certification rating from the Enterprise Foundation in conjunction with MSHDA, and was among the first in a pilot program for the USGBC LEED for Homes with a Silver designation.

Triangle’s coordination of products, systems and procedures was essential for qualification under both environmental building criteria.
