Kalamazoo Multi Use Station

Construction-Management

Story

The Kalamazoo County Multi – Use Station houses the fire and police personnel of Kalamazoo. The construction of the KMUS began in July 2007 and continued into the first part of 2008. This new building has one floor and two wings, which consists of multiple bunks, a kitchen, a lounge, a meeting area, a clerical area, and an IT area. This multi – use building also consists of three main truck bays with specialized exhaust systems, zoned bedding areas, turnout and locker rooms and office and training spaces.

High comfortable finishes in the living areas are complemented with heavy duty kitchen gear.  The entire building was constructed with the idea of long – lasting design. The Fire/Rescue/Police areas have high strength, long lasting, durable finishes consisting of epoxy floors and paints.

The elevation is a classy, split face brick masonry unit with stone banding. An EIFS gable entrance holds the city crest above the truck bays.

During the construction on the KMUS, CSM encountered an unknown problem, contaminated soil. This soil was found under a previously residentially developed area and removed in a timely manner.
