Lake Michigan Credit Union

Engineering

Story

Classic Engineering provided the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing design for this 42,000 sq. ft. tenant build out. Lake Michigan Credit Union had outgrown their previous location and needed more room for their headquarters and operations. The structure of the existing building was curved with the long length approximately 350’ and a radius of nearly 500’. LMCU’s curved design floor plan with a high amount of windows and varied ceiling types consisted of open office, private office, and conference rooms. The mechanical design goal was to ensure that all building occupants would be comfortable with as much individual control as possible. Due to the existing system being rooftop VAV, enough terminal boxes were added in order to meet the client’s needs, separating interior and exterior zones and adding dedicated boxes to each unique space. With the curve of the building, it was difficult to run piping and ductwork on a radius so that it was as parallel to the walls as possible. Pleune Service Company was the HVAC contractor. The focus of the electrical design for the project consisted of linear fluorescent pendant luminaries to emphasize the building shape and structure while providing quality and flexible illumination.
