Jackson, MI – (December 5, 2007) Excell Realty Group, along with The Enterprise Group of Jackson and Fryling Construction are pleased to announce the completion of the Armory Artswalk Lofts.


Armory Arts Village is located on the historical 19-acre site of the original Jackson State Prison built in 1839.  The site includes several historic prison buildings, a stunning 25 foot high turreted stone wall around the perimeter of the property and a vacant industrial complex to the South.  Phase 1 of the project was recently completed and included the renovation of three historic prison buildings into 62 one and two bedroom units.  Mixed within the residential units are workspaces for the resident artists.  Workspaces include a two-story industrial arts production space, specialized studio facilities including a ceramics/sculpture, galleries, studios, rehearsal space, etc. to be shared by resident artists, artisans and designers.

According to Project Manager, Curt Mulder, “This project has been in the works for several years and has been a great combined effort between the State of Michigan, several funding partners, Architects, Engineers, Developers and Contractors.  Despite the intense complexity of this project from funding through construction, the completion of this project is a true testament to each person’s dedication and efforts put forth to make it a success.”
