One aspect in the plan to expand Davenport University was the plan to grow its athletic program. To accomplish this plan it was necessary to construct a fieldhouse; a showcase facility that would exemplify Davenport University and its theme of diversity and growth.

Building products and contractors were selected to insure that spectators would enjoy their time attending a Davenprot event in the Fieldhouse. ASCOM, Inc. was chosen to design, build, and install the many communications systems including the Gym sound system. The sound system provides smooth coverage throughout the facility regardless of seating location, home side, visitor side, or Gym floor. This feature allows for a complete range of events to be held in the facility without the worry of fans being able to hear. Audio panels located in numerous locations throughout the facility allows for a diverse quanity of event set ups to happen without the need for additional cables.

Davenport has joined the NAIA division of the NCAA and has expanded their athletic teams from 2 to 24.
