Story

Process Water Containing High COD and Oil and Grease Confidential Client Northwest, USA AQUAMEND™ was used to treat industrial process water containing spent lubricant from a facility in the Northwest USA The investigation focused on evaluation of the efficiency of Adventus’ AQUAMEND™ technology for the treatment of water containing high chemical oxygen demand (COD) and oil and grease, with significant concentrations of ICAP 36 metals present in the solution. The AQUAMEND™ treatment process is based on the use of AQUAMEND™ biocarrier media, which are engineered inorganic surfaces that serve as supports for microorganisms in bioreactor systems for the remediation of wastewater or contaminated groundwater. Results indicated that AQUAMEND™ treatment reduced both COD and oil and grease concentrations in the wastewater stream to below the applicable criteria. The influent COD and oil and grease concentrations were reduced from 41,700 mg/L and 2,485 mg/L to 1,130 mg/L and <0.5 mg/L, respectively (representing reductions of 97.3% and >99.9%). The AQUAMEND™ system performed very well, although the water had elevated concentrations of several heavy metals. Graphs Show Effect of AQUAMEND Treatment on COD and oil and grease concentrations in industrial wastewater.
