Acoustical-Design
Riley Hospital for Children in Indianapolis, Indiana, has long been known for creating a positive environment for children of all ages. Acoustics By Design was brought in to enhance the acoustics in the newly designed, Simon Family Tower, a 10-story, 288-bed addition. Our professional engineers used sophisticated computer modeling tools to identify and diagnose the potential acoustical issues. After careful analysis, we offered a report with several creative solutions. Our objective recommendations gave the hospital and designers the information necessary to address the acoustical problems without sacrificing the look and feel of this great space.
Our consulting also included recommendations for improving the speech privacy around the nurse stations. Current research shows a direct link between patient care and speech privacy. When patients overhear voices from a nurse station, the environment of trust is breached. The result is that patients tend to hold back information from the very health professionals whom they are supposed to trust. Acoustics By Design modeled these spaced with 3D technology and provided solutions to dramatically improve the acoustics and speech privacy throughout the hospital.
